Cardiac Disease

Cardiological issues such as heart disease are becoming increasingly common in cats and dogs. This is likely due to the great care we take of our animals and that their life expectancy is increasing. Often defects in the heart are present form birth but these only become apparent as your pet ages.

The NSVSC cardiology department sees a wide range of routine and emergency cases. We conduct investigations as well as management of existing cardiac disease. Our cardiology referral service is available for all small mammal veterinary species. We have a dedicated ultrasound suite with a high-tech machine for performing echocardiograms with colour doppler to check for abnormalities to blood flow around the heart.
