Diplomat in Small Animal Medicine

Avril graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2011 and worked for several years in general practice. During this time, she obtained the Master of Veterinary Studies (Small Animal Practice) degree from Murdoch University. She then moved to Sydney to undertake a medicine internship at North Shore Veterinary Specialist and Emergency Centre and achieved membership to the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientist.

Avril has recently completed a 3-year small animal internal medicine residency programme at the University of Melbourne. During her residency, she received additional externship training at the Royal Veterinary College, Colorado State University and the University of California, Davis. Her residency research project was on disseminated Aspergillosis in dogs. Avril returned to the North Shore Veterinary Specialist and Emergency Centre team in early 2020 as a registrar, while preparing for her American College Veterinary Internal Medicine board examination.

Avril is passionate about helping her patients attain well being through the art of veterinary medicine. She enjoys all aspect of internal medicine, with a particular interest in the field of endocrinology, gastroenterology and immunology. In her spare time, Avril loves going on outdoor adventures and exploring the Australian bush on horseback. She also likes spending time with her friends and furry kid, Mochi.
