Cardiology

ReceptionOur cardiology unit provides a comprehensive range of services, from surgical correction of congenital cardiac anomalies to diagnosis and treatment of all facets of cardiovascular disease using electrocardiography, two-dimensional, M-mode, spectral and colour flow Doppler echocardiography, thoracic radiography and video fluoroscopy and oscillometric and Doppler blood pressure measurement.

Medicine

In addition to performing oncology and cardiology, the internal medicine specialists have extensive experience in neurology, urology, endocrinology and gastro-enterology. Rhinoscopy and bronchoscopy are performed for diagnosis of respiratory disease, with videofluoroscopy for assessment of gastro-oesophageal dysfunction and gastro-intestinal endoscopy & biopsy when primary GIT disease is suspected. Surgery

A wide spectrum of complex orthopedic and neurosurgical procedures are performed by our specialist surgeons in addition to soft tissue surgery. Surgical oncology is an important component of the surgical case load, together with correction of congenital anomalies such as porto-systemic shunts, patent ductus arteriosus and ectopic ureters.

Ophthalmology

The Eye Clinic for Animals has been servicing Australia’s ophthalmology needs for more than 25 years and continues to do so from the Specialist Centre. From sophisticated diagnostic procedures using ultrasound and electroretinography to cataract removal and corneal grafting, ophthalmic disease can be expertly diagnosed and treated. Where ocular manifestation of underlying systemic disease is suspected, liaison with on-site specialist internists ensures accurate diagnosis.

Veterinary Imaging

Specialist radiologists perform complex radiology, including myelography, discography & epidurography, videofluoroscopic studies of the gastro-intestinal, respiratory and urogenital tracts, as well as ultrasonography (colour flow Doppler). Advanced imaging with either CT or MRI is readily available.

Oncology

Our oncology unit offers the very latest protocols for surgical and medical management of cancer. Multi-agent chemotherapy for cancers such as lymphoma is regularly performed, with adjunctive chemotherapy for cancers such as osteosarcoma & haemangiosarcoma, following surgical removal of the primary. Emerging protocols for treatment of these cancers and traditionally poorly responsive carcinomas offer new hope of prolonged survival time.
